In 1983, he was given the reigns of the collegiate women's team. The highlight of his four years in charge was runner-up finiash in the Metropolitan Swim Conference.
Billesimo then moved on to New Jersey, where he was the Head Coach

With his success at Atlantis, he moved back into the collegiate ranks in Bethlehem as a volunteer assistant/stroke clinician at Lehigh University. He served on the Mountain Hawks' staff for six years.
The Red Foxes first-ever women's coach, Billesimo rejoined the Marist coaching staff in 2009 after stops in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Jim took over the Head Coaching Position of the Red Fox Aquatic Club in 2011. In 2021 Jim assumed the role of Director/Head Coach of the club.
